Wild grape vine weaving has long been practiced at the foot of Mount Gassan, one of the sacred Dewa Sanzan mountains in Yamagata Prefecture. This traditional craft is reinterpreted through a contemporary lens through the combination of wild grape vines and Japanese leather. While the silhouette is rooted in a classic design, the body is crafted using Ajiro weaving — a technique that demands exceptional skill from the artisan. From harvesting the vines to the weaving itself, each piece is completed entirely by a single craftsperson, resulting in beautifully balanced patterns that reflect remarkable craftsmanship. The Large and Medium sizes are designed as handbag styles featuring the artisan’s original “spiral-weave” handles. The Mini size is designed as a shoulder bag with a flap and strap detail. Each bag combines the striking beauty of densely woven craftsmanship with a lightness suited to contemporary living. Presented with a kaya storage pouch from Nara Prefecture and housed in a custom-made paulownia wood box.

聖地として名高い山形県・出羽三山のひとつ、月山の麓に古くから伝わる山葡萄蔓細工。その伝統工藝を、日本産レザーと組みあわせ、現代的に再解釈。ボディはクラシックな意匠でありながら、職人の腕が最も試される網代編み。素材の採取から編みまで、一人で仕上げられており、均整の取れた編み目には卓越した技量が宿る。大と中は職人オリジナルの編み技法“螺旋編み”ハンドルを備えたハンドバッグ型。小はフラップをあしらったストラップ付きのショルダーバッグ型。いずれも重厚な編み目の美しさと、扱いやすい軽さを併せ持つ、現代の暮らしに寄り添うバッグ。奈良県産のカヤ袋を添え、特注の桐箱に収めてお届けします。
